But they all have basic shelter already. They don't need a new place to live. They want one. As agents, it's our job to focus on the 'wants' and the emotional desires of our prospects and customers. Find those 'hot buttons'. How do you know what the 'wants' and emotional hot buttons of your prospects will be? I mean really, how do you know? We're all so different. How could a 60 year old couple whose children are grown and moved out of the family home have the same 'wants' as a couple who are 25 and have 2 children under the age of 3? They don't. That's why it makes sense to separate the real estate market of your town into smaller, more easily identifiable, easier to attract, easier to service groups. Or, niches. Rather than continuing to be 'all things to all people', and competing with every other agent in town for a share of the 'big town pie', divide up the potential buyers and sellers in your town into smaller niches and become an expert in the wants and 'hotbuttons' of that one group. Specialize and market to the wants and emotional hot buttons of a smaller group. Now, you'll no longer be just one-more agent in 'the sea of agents'. You'll position yourself as the agent, in a smaller 'pond'.
You're real estate knowledge and years of experience are all wonderful, and truly a valuable professional asset. But what good are all of the hours of Continuing Ed classes and prestigious designations if you don't have enough prospects? Enough customers and closings in a month to pay your bills? Pay yourself? An agent who can market their own unique and exclusive real estate services to their own unique customer base so that those prospects and customers feel that those services were created just for them, will reap the rewards and prosper. Offering specialized services and delivering those service the way your prospects and customers want them delivered lets them know that they aren't dealing with 'just another agent'. Letting prospects know they aren't 'just another customer' and are different from their neighbor, will help agents prosper.
